Current Skincare Loves

I'll be honest in saying skincare in general never used to excite me a great deal. I'd take my make-up off, cleanse and maybe moisturise if I was feeling extra fancy but that was about my lot. I've recently gotten a lot better though. Maybe it was turning 22 and realising that now I'm older (ick) I should actually start looking after my skin before it’s too late. Or maybe it was going cruelty free that helped re-interest me in all aspects of beauty. Whatever happened I'm now in the process of completely overhauling my whole skincare routine and so far I've found a few bits and pieces that I'm actually super happy with that I thought I'd share.

I got The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion and Glow Boosting Moisturiser (not pictured because I currently can't find it soz) combination for Christmas and I have been using them both almost constantly ever since. My skin on the whole tends to be really dry and dull so I'm down for anything specially designed to hydrate or exfoliate 'dull, tired, grumpy skin' like these two products. I tend to use the Microdermabrasion just once a week because it’s quite harsh (so probably not suitable for really sensitive skin) but it always leaves my face feeling the softest I think it’s ever felt. On the flip side I use the moisturiser almost daily just before I apply my make-up because it’s lovely and light with a completely non greasy finish. Both products also have the same sweet orange, citrusy scent, which is pretty much like sunshine in a pot.

Another favourite is the Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic, which is an exfoliating Toner designed for all skin types. According to the website it helps tone, firm and tighten skin while gently removing dead cells. After using it for just a couple of weeks I've noticed far fewer dry patches, as well as a much brighter overall complexion, which is a big thing for my perpetually tired skin. Even after cleansing thoroughly first I'm always surprised just how much build-up this seems to remove from my skin, so I can't ever see myself going without it now. This is the second of two teeny 15ml minis I managed to get my hands on and I will definitely be picking up the full sized bottle when this one runs out, even if it is at the pricier end of the skincare spectrum.

My final current love is a bit of a cult classic, the Lush Bubble Gum Lip Scrub. I've had this forever and used to always apply it exclusively before wearing a super matte lipstick to buff away any dry skin. However I've recently started using it daily, no matter what lipstick I'm wearing, and my lips have felt far softer and less dry than they ever have before. Plus it tastes amazing and that's always appreciated.
